Rom Company

Turns mixed industrial waste from a costly burden into an economic resource

Sector: SERVICES  |  Process: GOLDEN WASTE

The Challenge

The construction industry – one of the oldest and most essential sectors of the economy – faces significant environmental, operational, and economic challenges, yet remains among the least technologically advanced industries. It is responsible for more than one-third of total waste generation in Europe and over 40% of global carbon emissions. ROM, part of the Luzon Group, accumulates thousands of tons of construction waste across their sites every year – a significant economic burden that ends in high landfill costs and substantial environmental damage. Despite the clear need for solutions that enable the industry to reduce its environmental impact and cut costs, there is currently no efficient, affordable, and scalable solution for recycling construction waste without prior separation by material type.

The Innovation

We developed a technological breakthrough for ROM: Morphit – a patented technology that enables the production of building materials made from 80% mixed construction waste, with no need for waste separation and on the same existing production lines. The technology enables the manufacture of blocks, boards, walls, and partitions with high structural performance – transforming an operational cost that ROM and construction sites pay to dispose of, into a profitable product with real economic value. The solution we developed with ROM delivers a dual impact – it turns mixed industrial waste from a costly burden into an economic resource, while giving the construction industry the tools to enter a new era of circular and sustainable building.
